The editors of Words and Pictures Magazine are proud to announce the winners of our 2006 literary
prizes in both the Poetry and Prose categories.

The number of submissions received was overwhelming, and choosing among the incredible pool of
talent seemed impossible at times -- but, in the end, a handful of poetry and prose entries rose to the top
to claim their places as "the best of the best."
Listed below are the winners in each category, as well as the runners up.
POETRY PRIZE


Winner:  "Pine Log" by Pamela A Garvey

PROSE AWARD


Winner:  "A Walk in the Park" by Hal Ackerman


Runners Up:  
"A Taste of Citrus" by Karen Lewis
"Dead Man Walking" by Andrew McNabb

The winning entry in the prose category receives a monetary prize of $500
and publication in
Words and Pictures Magazine.  

The winning entry in the poetry category receives a monetary prize of $250
and publication in
Words and Pictures Magazine.

All Runners Up are offered publication and copies of the print issue of the
magazine
.
